Calvary Kids Volunteer Roles

Calvary Kids desires every child to be known, nurtured, and discipled.

Volunteer Roles:

Nursery

  • Nursery Caregiver: Nurture, know, and disciple infants and toddlers. Engage children in suggested learning activities while caring for their physical and emotional needs. Serve twice a month on Sundays at 8:00, 9:30, or 11:00am or on Wednesday nights.
  • Nursery Checkpoint: Be the first and last smiling face a family sees. Warmly welcome children, families, and volunteers to the secure Nursery hallway. Serve twice a month on Sundays at 8:00, 9:30, or 11:00am or on Wednesday nights.
  • Nursery Room Coordinator: Lovingly oversee and shepherd a group of Nursery team members. Encourage, communicate with, and help to train your team. Serve weekly on Sunday mornings at the beginning of both the 9:30 and 11:00am hours, with some weekday responsibilities from home.
  • Nursery Team Leader: Thoughtful and quick decision-makers manage the Nursery suite on a Sunday morning. Maintain safety ratios, encourage parents and volunteers, and welcome guests. Serve twice a month on Sundays at 8:00, 9:30, or 11:00am.
  • Laundry Team Member: Ensure a healthy environment for the children by washing linens. Use either the church-provided washer and dryer or your own. Serve on your own time and share this role with others on assigned weeks.
  • Cleaning Team Member: Give an extra cleaning to Nursery toys and equipment so that our children may enjoy a healthy environment in which to learn about God’s love and care. Serve on the second and dourth Thursdays of each month from 9:00–10:30am.

Early Childhood

  • Coordinator: Oversee and shepherd team members of one age group, during one ministry hour. Serve weekly on Sunday mornings, at the beginning of both the 9:30 or 11:00am hours, with some weekday responsibilities from home.
  • Teacher: Study and teach Bible lessons in an age-appropriate manner. Coordinate teaching activities in the classroom during the hour. (All lessons and materials are prepared for you.) Serve twice a month on Sundays at 8:00, 9:30, or 11:00am or on Wednesday nights.
  • Assistant: Assist the teacher in engaging children in the Learning Centers and Bible stories. Serve twice a month on Sundays at 8:00, 9:30, or 11:00am or on Wednesday nights.
  • Teen Helper: Engage with the children through play, reading books, and assisting the teacher with Learning Centers. Serve twice a month on Sundays at 8:00, 9:30, or 11:00am or on Wednesday nights.

Elementary

  • Coordinator: Oversee and shepherd team members of one age group on Sundays at 9:30 or 11:00am.
  • Assistant Coordinator: Assist the Sunday School Coordinator in a variety of tasks to ensure that we provide a welcoming and connecting environment for each child and team member. Serve on Sundays at 9:30 or 11:00am.
  • Small Group Leader: Shepherd and disciple a consistent group of children in a Sunday School classroom following the main Bible lesson. All small group materials are provided for you. Serve twice a month on Sundays at 9:30 or 11:00am. 
  • Bible Teacher: Study and teach the provided Bible lesson in an engaging manner so that children are inspired to know, love, and obey God. Serve Sundays at 9:30 or 11:00am or on Wednesday nights. 
  • Teacher Assistant: In Discovery Clubs, assist the teacher in engaging the children in the lesson and activities. Serve weekly on Wednesday nights from September–April.
  • Read Around the World Data Coordinator: Keep track of the points each child earns by reading missionary biographies, and create slides for the Wall of Fame in the global hallway. Create your own schedule.
