GO Weekend is an opportunity at the end of the year for Student Groups to go out into their communities and serve together.
This weekend will be the third of our big events for your Student Group each year. At FUSION we come together for groups to go deeper faster and build relationships. At the WINTER RETREAT we get away to push students to evaluate their spiritual lives and take the next step as they pursue life in Christ. At GO WEEKEND we look outwards and go into God’s world together, to serve our local communities.
In order to participate in this GO Weekend Event, all students must complete the following document(s) and return to their Student Group LEADER:
GO Weekend will consist of three parts:
- GO Night (Wed. 4/5 6:30p - 8pm)
We will gather together on Wednesday Night to talk about the heart behind serving others and then break into our Student Groups to discuss what that means for your students and their service project.
- Service Saturday (Sat 4/8)
As a group, you will serve together at any time on Saturday, April 8 and then sleep over at someone’s house that night.
- Celebration Sunday (Sun 4/9 9:15-10:30a)
Wake up and come to church to celebrate with all of CSM as we recap what groups were able to do and how God was able to work.
What are your Next Steps?
- Step 1: Find a service project
Brainstorm as a group, what are ways that you and your students can serve your local community. Where do they live? Who are their neighbors? Who do they know that needs help? Ask parents, ask ABF partners, ask schools, etc. Communicate with the people you are going to serve to find out their needs and set up a time on Saturday April 9 to go and serve them!
- Step 2: Find a place to sleep over
Partner with parents to find a place for your group to sleep over on Saturday night. Make sure to organize transportation there and to church on Sunday morning.
- Step 3: Plan your day/night
Figure out what time you will serve, when and where you will meet, do you need food, maybe add a fun activity before or afterward.
Make sure to fill out the online form by March 29 to let us know when and where you are serving.
- Step 4: Get supplies
What does your group need for your service project? Is there anything you need students to bring or buy? Will there be supplies where you are going? Do you need plans/instructions? Do students need training or lessons?
- Step 5: Serve
Have fun being the hands and feet of Jesus in your local community! Take pictures/videos that we can share with everyone on Sunday!
- Step 6: Celebrate
Come in with your entire group and celebrate what God did through them and all of our student groups! Get challenged to live a lifestyle of service and taking what we learned through this experience to everyday life.
