Children & Youth Wing
Calvary Church celebrated the official ground breaking for their new Children’s and Youth Educational facility in a ceremony Sunday, March 11, 2007.
The congregation was invited to observe participants including Johnny Miller, Senior Pastor of Calvary Church, Elders Barry Ferguson and Kevin Fillgrove, Architect Steve Fry of Harkness Fry, Bill Forrey, Michael Funk and Jamie Morrison of Wohlsen Construction, along with members of the building committee chaired by Dr. Carl Colton, at the ground breaking for the new facility.
The addition completes the vision Calvary Church had when it moved to the Landis Valley Road location in 1999. This expansion provides relief for crowding in the youth and elementary departments and allows for the implementation of creative, age-appropriate and culturally relevant teaching to accomplish the vision of training and empowering children and students to make a difference in their community and the world.
The youth wing provides a flexible auditorium that can seat 800 students or can be divided into two large classrooms and many small breakout rooms along with a multi-function lobby and office complex. The children’s wing adds four large classrooms, referred to as “pods”, with movable walls creating four smaller quadrants.
In addition to the new facility, the church remodeled a number of existing rooms to make best possible use of the entire facility.
The addition was completed June 2008.
